Children of Andrew Weatherwax 1700-1784 and Anna Barbara Loscher
The last child born to this couple was
Andrew Weatherwax b: 16 May 1737 (Family Bible record) he was baptized on 22 May 1739 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Red Hook NY. He married Catharina Reisdorff on 17 Dec 1762 at the Albany Reformed Church in Albany NY. This couple had ten known children, all grew to adulthood and married. He appears on the Tax rolls of 23 Oct 1779 for Schaghticoke, but later moved to the area of present day East Greenbush, Rensselaer co. NY. His family farm still exists and is the site of the Weatherwax Family cemetery.(located on private property owned by the Bink family)
He and many of his family area all buried there. There is a listing on this cemetery on the USGENWEB page for Rensselaer co NY. He wrote a Will on 1 Feb 1821 (a transcription is on the Rensselaer county website). In the History of Sand Lake records there is a letter he wrote dated 2 Feb 1824 indicating he wants to manumet his slave named Jacob Brown, age 21yrs,born unto him a slave. So this is the 2nd known instance of Slave ownership in the family history. It is worth noting that NY passed a law requiring all slave be freed by 1826. Also note that he indicates that Jacob was born unto him a slave indicating he may in fact had at least Jacobs mother as a slave as well!
Andrew died 16 May 1824, and is buried on his farm. His Will written 1 Feb 1821 and probated 22 May 1824 is available.
This was the last known child born to Andrew Weatherwax and his first wife Anna Barbara Loscher. Note that although he was born in 1737, it was not until 1739 two years later that he was baptized. I believe his mother died shortly after his birth and that the baptismal record was after her death. No proof of that but it fits Andrews next marriage and children.

Catharina Weatherwax b: Oct 1736 Red Hook NY; Bap: 1 Nov 1736 St. Pauls Lutheran Church Red Hook NY. She married Johannes (John ) Schneider abt 1754. She died after 1782 and he died 11 Nov 1805 They were living in the Schaghticoke/Pittstown area of Rensselaer co NY. They had eight known children.
John wrote a Will dated 9 Nov 1805 and probated on 27 Jan 1806 Rensselaer co Wills.

Henrich (Henry) Weatherwax baptized: 29 Oct 1732 St. Paul's Lutheran Church records, no date of birth indicated. He married Catherina Oosterhout on 15 Feb 1757 at Rhinebeck Flats Reformed Church. He appears on the Tax rolls between 1758-1778 in Dutchess co. NY. This couple had seven known children. He died abt 1796 based on the Probate file of his estate filed on 7 Jun 1796 Dutchess co papers Estate book B for Rhinebeck NY. His wife Catherine d: 24 Oct 1809 in Rhinebeck. Rhinebeck death records indicate she was the Widow of Henry, and mother of 6 children. Two of their children died before adulthood, the remainer married and I have data on them.

Anna Dorothea Weatherwax b: abt1731 per "The Palatine Families of NY 1710",by Henry Z. Jones. She was confirmed on 15 Apr 1749 in St. Peters Lutheran Church Rhinebeck NY. She married Philip Laun on 9 May 1749 at St. Peters Lutheran Church Rhinebeck NY. They had at least four known children, the live in the area of Rhinebeck and Ancram in Columbia co NY. No positive date of death or burial for either of them

Anna Barbara Weatherwax b:before 5 Apr 1730; Baptized on 5 Apr 1730 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church Rhinebeck. Her baptismal record fails to indicate an exact date of birth. She did marry a John Snyder before 1857, they had one known son Jacob Snyder b: 12 Apt 1758 at Livingston Manor. That son married a Rebecca Hart. Not much more had been discovered by me on this family, I have estimated her death as after 1760

She married on 9 Jan 1750 Johann Jost (Joseph) Propper. They lived for a time near Livingston Manor and eventually moved ot Schoharie Flats Schoharie co NY. They had six children. One of whom "Samuel" Propper would marry Catharina Weatherwax. There is a fine new book out on the Propper Family Genealogy available from Lewis G. Propper. Search the Surname boards for Propper to locate him and his book. Date of death and or burial still to be determined.

Anna Margaretha Weatherwax bap: 14 Mar 1727 NY Lutheran Chbk records, probably at Rhinebeck, but record recorded in NY Lutheran church records. She was Confirmed on 17 Jun 1744 in Loonenburg Lutheran Church Rhinebeck NY. She married: Nicholas Coon on 30 Oct 1745 at Athens Lutheran Church. This church was located in the area of West Camp in Ulster co. NY. She and her husband settled in Ancram,Columbia co NY where they had at least 10 documented children. She died abt 1785,but that is not a documented date of death. Burial for her and her husband not yet determined. If you need information on her children and their marriages etc I do have that in my files.

He was confirmed on 17 Jun 1744 at Loonenberg Lutheran church in Rhinebeck NY. He appears on the tax rolls in Feb of 1748 Dutchess county tax lists. He married: Ursula Barbara Laun on 5 Mar 1747 in St. Peters Church. They had no known or documented children. He died sometime before 15 Oct 1789 in Rhinebeck
Because NY had no vital record laws his date of death was determined by the date of his wife's Will 15 Oct 1789 Dutchess co Wills. His wife Ursula died 18 Mar 1792 based on the cemetery records of St. Peters Church cemetery Dutchess co NY.
You will find my transcription of her Will on the SAMPUBCO website. She is cited in the Will as: Ursula Barwen Widerwax of Rhinebeck NY. Since she had no children as heirs the bulk of her estate went to siblings and their children. What is striking about this Will is her disposition of her three slaves. The first known incident of slave ownership within our family. She directs that James,Pith,Lurres, are to be manumeted or freed upon whatever the law will allow or when of marriageable age. She also indicates that her heirs must free them.

Johan Andreas Wiederwach 1700-1784
Johan Andreas Widerwachs son of the immigrant later known simply as Andrew Weatherwax was born in the Rhine Palatinate around 1700. No known birth record was found for him. He with his parents and siblings traveled down the Rhine river to Rotterdam in 1709, eventually arriving in England. The Palatines were loaded aboard ships in Dec of 1709 in England and waited until April of 1710 before the fleet departed for NY Colony. Our family arrived in NY in Jul of 1710. Over 700 of the Palatines died either enroute or awaiting departure from England. All the Palatines were placed in a Camp on Nutting Island until the fall of 1710. In the Fall of 1710 they were again placed on ships for settlement in the Hudson Valley. Two camp were set up. West Camp was located near present day Sugerties NY in Ulster county, and East Camp was located in present day Germantown NY in Columbia co. Our family was settled in East Camp.
Andrew's father Henrich lost his 1st wife and one son either during the voyage or shortly after arrival in NY. He would re-marry in 1711 and start a second family in NY.
Andrew the oldest would eventually become the largest progenitator of Weatherwax descendants. By his two marriages he would produce 19 children. Most but not all Weatherwax's will descend from his line.
Andrew would marry first Anna Barbara Loscher on 9 Nov 1724 at the Kingston Reformed church in Ulster co NY. Together they would produce 9 children. After their marriage they lived in Manor Livingston for a short time by 1726 he would settle in Red Hook village and become one of the original settlers of present day Red Hook, Dutchess co NY. He would remain there in Red Hook until abt 1764.
In 1737 his last child by his wife Anna Barbara Loscher was born, shortly thereafter it appears she died. He was left with 9 children to raise. Sometime about
1738/39 he would marry for a second time to Joanna Edeli. No record of this marriage has been found, but based on other evidence this marriage probably took place in Red Hook or Rhinebeck NY.
By his second marriage her would have an additional 10 children.
In 1764/1765 Andrew had viewed some available land near Tomahannock Creek in Present day Pittstown,Renssselaer co NY. On 20 Jul 1765 Andrew negotiated the purchase of 1/3 interest in a plot of land covering 8,602 acres located along Tomahannock Creek. For this he paid the sum of 1320 pounds colonial currency.
Ref: Deed book 9, pg 175 Albany County deeds. It is evident that he had been in the area prior to this purchase. He then moved all of his 2nd family north to Tomahannock Creek property.
On 28 Jul of 1766 Andrew placed an advertisment in Weyman's New York Gazette
indicating he had land and lots for sale, he is referenced as Andries Wiederwax in this publication.
Most of the children by his first marriage would remain in Dutchess,Ulster counties of NY, a few like last son Andrew b:1737 would settle north in Rensselaer co.
It is worth remembering that except for Ulster and Dutchess counties NY all other areas were part of the huge county called Albany. In fact Rensselaer county would not be established until 1792.
Andrew wrote a Will dated 18 Jan 1780 while at Tomahannock Creek. This will appears in Fernows Calendar of Wills. His Will was probated on 10 May 1784 in court at Albany NY. No exact date of death has been found for Andrew but it most probably it would be April or early May 1784.
Land record research by Arthur Johnson (deceased) provided additional documentation of the Tomahannock Creek property. Today all this land is under the Tomahannock Reservior which is located on NY rte 7 in Pittstown NY. This Reservior serves the city of Troy NY. I have been to this location many times and no identifieble gravesite has been found for Andrew, it is either underwater or unmarked. The only identifiable cemetery located on the S.E. side of the Reservior contains no Weatherwax tombstones.
It is also worth noting that the Tomahannock area was sometimes consider a part of either Schaghticoke or Pittstown NY.
